That Little Black Number
                                                                  by Denis Carolan

They were dancin' to the beat of the Spanish tune when his eyes met
hers across that room
He slipped the ring from his finger and he put it away-walked right
over and asked her name...

She wore a- little -Black- Number short and tight-
Made his heart thunder on that summer night
She wore a little -black -number and she looked so hot-
she made the ice cubes tremble made the champagne Pop! Whoa Oh

In a darkend room down on the sunset strip
That delicate dress got torn and ripped and rolled up like a victim on
the bedroom floor no matter what they did he just needed more..

And that little black Number went to his head
Made him climb the walls, made him scream and beg
And in that Little black number shehad looked so good
He knew he would'nt stop even if he could..Whoa oh

Back at home those suspicions grew, in his absence the way weeds do
and searching through his pockets she finds receipts
Hotel records of the dirty deeds

And those little Black numbers said it all-
the guilty look, the late night call
and those little black numbers made her loose control
-she put two shiney bullets in her forty four..whoa oh

Now Father Frank Murphy's saying dust to dust
If God don't get ya then the devil must
Standin' by the grave nobody he knows
just another weeping black widow

and in that little black Number oh she looks so good
she'd make the dead men dance there if they could-
And in that little black number oh she's weeping now-
Making Father frank Murphy rethink his vows ...

          Little Blue Sky

                                                                                    By Denis Carolan

Keep a little blue sky in your heart for me

when you feel those rain drops start falling

wrap the blue sky all around you-

don't you let the dark confound you-

            Keep a little blue sky

save a little blue Sky in your heart

keep a little sunshine in your mind

my friend when you feel that you won't smile again

you can rise above the drama

            choose a brighter panorama

            Keep a little blue sky

            in your heart

Oh I know you've got miles to go

And you must brave the hail and snow

But brighter times lie round the bend

            Every rainy day must end..

Keep a little blue sky in your heart for me

when you feel those rain drops start falling

wrap the blue sky all around you-

don't you let the dark confound you-

            Keep a little blue sky

save a little  blue Sky in your heart

Find a little blue sky in your heart

Oh I know you've got miles to go

And you must brave the hail and snow

But brighter times lie round the bend

            Every rainy day must end..

When you hear the wild wind howling.  .keep a little blue sky

when you see the black dog prowling.  .keep a little blue sky

when you see your teacher scowling..  keep a little blue sky

when you feel like throwing that towel in..  keep a little blue sky

            In your heart.

    A World Of Her Own

                                                                                                            by Denis Carolan

Oh the Garden went wild- while she was away

and she came home too tired to tend to the clay

all the roses they bloomed , they withered and died,

she never smelt their perfumes- oh she never had time..

and the early morning train it took her from home,

to dream through the day in a world of her own.

in a world of her own making

in a world with her heart breaking

one tear at a time -the way the rain breaks the stone

In a world with the years flying

in a world where she's still crying

One tear at a time- in a world of her own

All the pictures on her wall there, from a far different time

Show a boy straight and tall as she smiles by his side

Not so long ago now no it just seems yesterday her one starring role then

In a tragedy play..

in a world of her own making

In a world with her heart breaking

In a world without love making

In a world with the years flying

In a world where she's still crying

One tear at a time She's letting him go..

No pauper is a prince child

No lead turns to gold-

put those stories away now

Come close the door..

in a world of her own making

in a world with her heart breaking

one tear at a time -the way the rain breaks the stone

In a world with the years flying

In a world where she's still crying

One tear at a time

in a world of her own...

One tear at a time- in a world of her ownone tear at a time -the way the rain breaks the stone

 Wishin' My Time Away

Hey!  tell me whats your hurry

Your day is just an endless worry

You gotta slow down baby your wishin' your time away

I know -you got places to be

and so- many people to see

And if I'm on your list it's last at the end of the day

You say I'm just like a lazy tomcat sittin' on the fence

with no ambition and you're suspicious of such in-do-lence

But I'm- just practising patience

Resigned- to the situation-

'Til you slow down baby I'm just wishin' my time away...

Oh you speed so fast like a train on the tracks

You'll meet your own self coming back

Don't know what it is you fear-I know the time is now the place is here

So I'm just practicing patience

Resigned to the situation-

Until you slow down baby I'm just wisin' my time-

Untill you slow down baby  I'm just wisin' my time..away

A Ticket Out of Limbo

A Ticket Out of Limbo

Ruby drew the curtains on another rainy day
Opened up abottle to drink the night away
And leafing through the pages of her travel magazine
She came across a photo of the shining carribbean
She found her credit card picked up the phone
Told the girls from the office she might never make it home

She got a ticket out of limbo for the Island of her dreams,
From the bright lights of London for the shining carribbeann

They met her at the airport with flowers and a smile
Took her to her hotel fifty stories high
With a view from the balcony stretchin out across the bay
And a Hollywood sunset crowning every day

They said welcome to limbo the Island of your dreams
From the bright lights of London to the shining Carribbean

She met a boy in the nightclub with a seahorse tattoo
Showed her how to dance to the carribbean tunes
took him upstairs they made love until; the dawn
When she woke up in the morning everthing was gone

He got a ticket out of limbo to the island of his dreams
For the bright lights of London in his travel magazine
He got a ticket out of limbo
He got away clean for the bright lights of London to follow his dream..

   Through The looking Glass

Oh the emperor is naked and everyone knows

He's still parading around in his birthday clothes

His inflatable castle just hit the ground

He's still laughing we're the ones feeling like clowns

Oh don't you try to reason it out

The time for that is past

Thinking like that is treason now we're through the looking

-through the looking glass

Now the queen of hearts in her diamonds and pearls

She's hosting a banquet for the starving of the world

while the children go hungry down at her gates

He's waving her arms saying let them all eat cake

Oh don't you try to reason it out

Now its stupid to even ask/the time for that is past

Thinking like that is treason now we're

Through the looking- Through the looking glass

Eat yourself thinner

Grow yourself young

be saint and sinner

Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dumb

Cause you've always got options but be careful which you choose

You better be watching if it's wonderland you'll lose...

Oh don't you try to reason it out

The time for that is past

Thinking like that is treason now we're through the looking

-through the looking glass

                        Let's play God!

Take a little bit of you a little bit of me

Let's put 'em in a tube shake it and see

Any fool can do it tell me why not

Let's get to it- let's play God!

Lets make something new like the world has never seen

Something for the zoo a new species

Lets put wings on the monkey feathers on the frog

Pin the tail on the donkey- lets play God!

And on the eighth day when the lord was away Adam and Eve

Sat down to play Adam found the keys

To the chemistry set and said come on baby Eve

Lets experiment- Lets play God!

Get my apples from the pear tree get my cherries from the plum

Ain't no snakes in the garden that's

Just adam when he's drunk-

I'm gonna take the sword of solomon

I'm gonna cut a little slice

I know the poison is the medicine

And I know... I am... I am the light!

Lets Play God!

   500 Friends

Five hundred friends on facebook

And still you feel alone

Somehow you’ve been overlooked inside your comfort zone

I see you staring at that screen trying to meet somebody real

But all you seem to find these days are shady deals and ghosts

500 Friends, 500 Friends

Five hundred friends on facebook

smiling on your wall, make you feel like cinderella

You're never at the ball

so you photo-shopped a pumpkin, gave him eyes and lips

But you know he's missing something

and he'll never be your prince ...

“There outside your window children playing in the street”  (c)Eibhlinn McCarthy

But there's no one there you'd like to know

No-one you'd like to meet...

'Cause you've got- Alex in Alaska and Tom in timbuktu

Ali in the Amazon and Caths in Kathmandu

Sam in San Francisco and yochen is in New York

Nialls in Nagasaki and Kev's in the Central bar...

Five hundred friends on facebook

You can tag and share and poke

But for a handshake or a warm embrace they don't

hold out so much hope -and lately you're suspicious-

You maybe think that somethings wrong

All it takes, is one tiny click, and everybody's gone ...

The Banks of The Boyne

When summer was full and the swallows in flight

She and I stepped out in the golden Light

And as her hair streamed down across her cheek

I knelt down and asked her to marry me

There where the deep water flows

There with the swallows in flight

There where the wild lillies grow

All on the banks of the Boyne

But she turned away from me and she bowed her head

Said without money we could never be wed

For I was no gentleman with gold in my purse

My riches all rhymes my treasures just verse-

There where the deep water flows

There where the blackbirds all cry-

There with the briar and it's rose-

All on the banks of the boyne

So I told her I'd leave then and sail for the war

Fight for my fortune on Flander's shore

And if she loved truly and if her heart yearned we

Might be married upon my return

There where the sunsets were gold

There where with the swallows in flight

There where the deep water flows

All by the banks of the Boyne

But a young man's a fool

Who thinks to tempt fate

That death could not choose him if he told it wait

Yet who could reprove him that excess of love

For believing his feelings should be shield enough-

There in the mud and the cold-

There with the bullets in flight

There where the young men grow old-

So far from the banks of the Boyne...

Now all these dark rivers are still rolling on

The Lagan and the Boyne, The Rhine and the Somme

Like all of these sorrows that just can't be helped-

But what of these treasures we steal from ourselves?

Oh the people still talk and the stories are told

'Bout a poet and soldier who never came home

And the ghost of a lady who walks in the night

Reading his letters by the dark riverside

There where the evenings grow cold

There the blackbirds all cry

There the deep water flows

just by the banks of the Boyne

There where the wild lillies grow

There where the Blackbirds all cry

There where the deep water flows

All on the Banks of the Boyne
